Volunteer Opportunities for Seedy Saturday 2013 Now Open!
Happy New Year to everyone! Are you getting itchy to get growing? ‘Sow a Seed: Grow a Gardener” is this year’s theme for Saturday, March 2nd. I hope you’ll join our volunteer efforts to make this fundraising (and so totally social) event a success once again.
There are a couple additional areas this year to make the event even more accessible and enjoyable:
[important]
-
We will be running a child activity/care area so parents can shop or listen to speakers without distractions. If you have experience with kids, especially if you have credentials for child care, we’d love to have you assist us there. We’ll be setting up the Soroptomist Lounge to accommodate 20 kids plus caretakers.
-
We’ve also booked the Muir Gallery across the street for some of the speaker program, so will need staffing at that door, along with the two afternoon speakers in the Rotary Hall. The Muir holds twice as many people as the small halls in the Filberg, so this will address access for more people who come primarily for speakers. It also means we only have to move the Seed Exchange over to ½ the Rotary Hall at noon instead of upstairs. One-half the hall accommodates 200 people so our keynote speaker & Garden Panel will have a large audience, and we can open up several tables in the Trade Fair for other vendors if the seeds don’t move upstairs.
-
We will also be holding our Volunteer Appreciation event on the Friday evening BEFORE Seedy Saturday. There will be a short orientation session, food, fun and music both to get us revved for the next day and to say thank you for all your efforts. As in previous years, volunteers are entitled to coffee/tea/snack and a meal from the Seedy Cafe. There will again be prize draws too!
